Mentor Program
American University of Afghanistan Students
and World Affairs Council Young Professionals

This volunteer mentor opportunity supports the students in career development. The first undergraduate class of American University of Afghanistan in Kabul, which enrolled in 2006, enters its senior year with plans for graduation in spring 2010.

The Young Professionals of the World Affairs Council of Houston have a unique opportunity to serve as a mentor to AUAF undergraduates.

The mentor program takes place primarily through email and an online discussion forum.
Young professionals with various fields of interest will be matched with an AUAF student seeking to develop a career within that field. The mentor and student independently communicate, primarily via email, and exchange resumes, questions, and discussions about career development in the field.  The mentor provides guidance on educational and professional paths to pursue.

Additionally, live videoconferences provide the opportunity for students to present what they have learned about particular professional fields and to receive feedback from the young professionals.
