Speculation is giving way to real signs of global economy recovery. Latin America has weathered the financial storm better than other regions and is poised for strong growth in 2010. Augusto de la Torre, The World Bank’s chief economist for Latin America, will outline the economic recovery in the region with investment-ready data specific to Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and other major players. He will also discuss why some countries are better positioned than others.
Augusto de la Torre is the chief economist for Latin American and the Caribbean at The World Bank. Previously he was head of the Central Bank of Ecuador, and was chosen by Euromoney Magazine as the "Best Latin Central Banker" in 1996. Mr. de la Torre has published extensively on a broad range of macroeconomic and financial development topics. He earned his doctorate degree in Economics from the University of Notre Dame and holds a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the Catholic University of Ecuador.
This program is part of the new Latin America Business Outlook Series, sponsored by Thompson & Knight LLP. |
