George Friedman is Chief Executive of STRATFOR, a private global intelligence firm he founded in 1996. His annual forecast, outlining challenges and opportunities in the coming year, is sought after by academics, business leaders and government offices alike.

A frequent guest on television and radio networks such as CNN, Fox News, and NPR, Friedman is the author of numerous articles and books on international affairs, warfare and intelligence.

Prior to joining the private sector, Friedman spent almost twenty years in academia, teaching political science at Dickinson College. During this time he also regularly briefed senior commanders in the armed services as well as the Office of Net Assessments, SHAPE Technical Center, the U.S. Army War College, National Defense University and the RAND Corporation on security and national defense matters.

His most recent book, The Next 100 Years: A Forecast for the 21st Century, is a New York Times Best Seller. In this book Dr. Friedman draws on an exploration of history and geopolitical patterns dating back hundreds of years to explain where and why future wars will erupt and how they will be fought, which nations will gain and lose economic and political power, and how new technologies and cultural trends will alter the way we will live in the new century. The book is now out in paperback and will be available for sale and signing at the program.

Dr. Friedman holds a Ph.D. in government from Cornell University. STRATFOR is headquartered in Austin, Texas.

Limited Time Offer: Members of the World Affairs Council of Houston can receive a discount on STRATFOR membership. Instead of the standard discount of $199, STRATFOR has lowered the price for World Affairs Council of Houston members to $149 surrounding this event.  View details here.
